Panasonic Launches Energy Conservation Support Services for Production Plants

Keywords: Energy Conservation Manufacturing industry

Panasonic Corporation, a leading Japanese electronics manufacturer, announced on June 21, 2010, that it had launched a service to support energy conservation activities for entire factories from April 2010. By utilizing its know-how for reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, the company provides comprehensive support in aspects of technology, facilities, human resources, and finance which are indispensable for energy conservation practices based on its own experiences gained at its group companies' production bases.

The service promotes energy conservation throughout an entire plant in the following four phases: (1) submission of a proposal for energy conservation improvements based on the energy conservation diagnosis, (2) support for factories' recognizing the energy consumption in the plant, (3) support and implementation of measures utilizing Panasonic's energy conservation solution technologies, and (4) introduction of a coordination system called Save Energy Link (SE-Link) to control activity between production and power facilities.

In addition to the existing energy conservation consulting services for power facilities using air conditioning, electricity and gas, this service promotes energy conservation throughout the plant based on comprehensive evaluation of the operation status of production facilities. In fiscal 2009, Panasonic's Energy Company's plant in Wakayama Prefecture achieved an increase in energy saving by 15% after introducing the core technology, which is SE-Link. Panasonic will start to operate this service fully from fiscal 2011, and plans to sell it to overseas markets.
