Fujitsu Constructs Centralized Management System for Hydrogen Stations

Keywords: Manufacturing industry Renewable Energy

Fujitsu Ltd. announced on February 28, 2011, that it has developed a "Centralized Management System for Hydrogen Stations" together with the Research Association for Hydrogen Supply/Utilization Technology (HySUT), which assesses the hydrogen supply business through demonstration data. The system fully manages data such as the remaining amount and filling status of hydrogen at hydrogen stations, as well as the operating status of hydrogen stations and fuel cell vehicles.

This system is an information system platform for the hydrogen supply infrastructure. It keeps track of the amount of hydrogen, which increases and decreases hourly with the filling of fuel cell cars and with the production, procurement and supply of hydrogen. Thus, it fully manages the data related to the operation status of hydrogen stations and fuel cell vehicles. Based on these data, HySUT seeks to establish a stable hydrogen supply flow and to assess the future business model.

With the support from Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's "Hydrogen Energy Social Infrastructure Development Demonstration Project," HySUT is responsible for the Hydrogen Highway Project, which conducts verification tests to build infrastructure for hydrogen-powered fuel cell vehicles and aims to realize a hydrogen energy society. The Hydrogen Highway Project has constructed three hydrogen stations within the metropolitan area, and it has carried out demonstrations including regular services of fuel cell buses and cars on highways, as well as verification tests for the safe and simple production, transport and storage of hydrogen.
