Keywords: Climate Change NGO / Citizen

WWF, the world's largest conservation non-profit organization, has been expanded its activities into "conservation of the global environment." WWF was established in Switzerland in 1961 with a mission of wildlife conservation, and WWF Japan was set up in 1971.

The conservation work of WWF Japan has been implemented worldwide with programs addressing forests, fresh water, oceans, wildlife, global warming and toxic chemicals. WWF Japan deeply values cooperating with local people, experts, local governments and companies when they conduct their activities.

WWF Japan presented a Proposal for Domestic Emissions Trading Scheme for Decarbonizing Japan toward Carbonless Society in March 2007. The aim is to introduce an emissions trading scheme in order to help achieve the goals for CO2 reduction in the Kyoto Protocol and proceed toward decarbonization over the long term. With this proposal, WWF Japan aims to further promote global warming prevention measures in Japan.
