Chiba City launched trial operation of a citizen reporting system called Chiba-Repo on July 16, 2013. Utilizing information communication technology, the city aims at building the system that is expected to serve as a new framework for citizens to participate in resolving local problems.

During the trial operation, registered participants report locally found problems such as road defects by uploading images and comments to Chiba-Repo's website from their smartphone or PC. The city then works out the task flow for solving the reported problems in preparation for full-fledged system operation. In addition to the conventional measures it undertakes, the city intends to explore possibility of involving citizens in solving problems.

Trial operation is scheduled to be completed at the end of September.
