Keywords: Climate Change Manufacturing industry

Honda Motor Co. became the world's first auto company on June 20, 2012, to estimate and disclose the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions during customer use of its motorcycles, automobiles, and power products globally. The company expects that the calculation and disclosure will lead to emissions reductions.

The global CO2 emissions wer calculated based on the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Accounting and Reporting Standard, issued by the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol) Initiative in October 2011. Honda obtained third-party validation of the estimates and made them public in its 2012 Environmental Annual Report.
