NTT Data Releases CO2 Navigator-ASP Service

Keywords: Climate Change Non-manufacturing industry

In December 2006, NTT Data Corp. started to sell an ASP Service (Application Service provider) named "CO2 Navigator" that comprehensively supports the management of greenhouse gas emissions by companies. In accordance with the Laws Concerning the Promotion of the Measures to Cope with Global Warming and Rational Use of Energy (Energy Conservation Law) that went into effect in April 2006, companies have been required to calculate their emissions of six types of greenhouse gas prescribed in the Kyoto Protocol as a provision for the Global Warming Prevention Measures, and are also obliged to report their carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions derived from energy consumption to the government as a provision for the Energy Conservation Law. In response to this, NTT Data launched CO2 Navigator to provide customer companies with accurate calculations, reliable management services and to report their greenhouse gas emissions.

The attractive features of the services are: (1) promote necessary functions with the provisions for the Global Warming Prevention Measures and Energy Conservation Laws, (2) respond to six types of greenhouse gas prescribed by Kyoto Protocol, (3) provide target setting and achievement capability control for the environmental management process, and (4) provide easy operation at low costs.

NTT Data will continue to aim at delivering services regarding the comprehensive Kyoto Mechanism via IT (Information Technology), for example, to control CO2 emissions in shipping/transportation fields and to cope with various measures against global warming.
