Keywords: Non-manufacturing industry Policy / Systems

Tokyo Gas Co., a major Japanese gas company, has adopted a new home loan program offering lower interest rates for home construction, renovation and expansion in cooperation with five banking institutions. The banks--Sumitomo Trust & Banking Co., Chuo Mitsui Trust and Banking Co., Mizuho Bank, Mitsubishi Trust and Banking Corp. and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp.--accepted applicants for the lower interest rates of the loan program between July 1 and September 30, 2005.

The new loan targets consumers who, while using gas supplied by Tokyo Gas, plan to adopt the Tokyo Gas Eco System, a warm-water floor heating system using natural gas, or a household fuel cell cogeneration system.

The details of the lower interest rate program differ among banks to a certain extent. The reduction in annual interest rates is up to 1.1 percentage points if applied to the entire loan period and up to 1.3 percentage points if applied to a fixed initial period.

The company is aiming to spread and promote environmentally friendly gas appliances and systems by offering advantageous interest rates through this home loan program.
