Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry announced on October 16, 2012, the winners of its "Green IT Awards 2012," which included the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award. The Minister Awards went to the "Data Center Power System" project created by a joint team of NTT Data Intellilink Corporation, Japan Radio Co., and NTT Data Corporation in the category of Savings in IT-related Energy Consumption, and also went to the "Energy conservation and power saving solution utilizing data simulation technology from a remote server" project by Azbil Corporation in the category of Energy Conservation through the Use of IT. This program started in FY2008 and marked its fifth anniversary this year.

The "Data Center Power System" project, adopted in the product XECHNO Power + Fresh HVDC, substantially reduces power loss in converting alternating current to direct current and increases the system's total efficiency by 10 to 30 percent per data center, achieving dramatic energy savings.

Azbil Corporation has developed a service which provides energy saving management and other functions for its customer' buildings from a remote server equipped with advanced algorithms and connected to a dedicated line. The service allows many buildings to take advantage of the energy management system, which would be too expensive and result in poor return on investment if installed on a stand-alone basis for each building.

There are eight other award winners, including the "Environmental contribution through worldwide expansion of the cloud environment (FGCP/S5)" project by Fujitsu Limited and the "Comfortable eco-friendly printing environment achieved by an integrated solution" project by Fuji Xerox Co.
