Book Exchange Promotes Community between Students and Residents

A book exchange event held at Sanyo Girls' Junior and High Schools in Okayama City, Okayama Prefecture, on May 26, 2012, and promoted through newspaper and TV media, was successful, with more than 100 people attending and 255 book exchanges made.
Book exchange events generally involve mostly collections of unwanted books, but the aim of this event was to pass on someone's favorite books to the next readers. The owner of each book wrote a recommendation message to the next reader, and then participants chose books after reading the messages.
The school has plans for a second book exchange based on the outcomes and lessons learnt from the first one.
