INAX Releases Energy-Saving Gas Water Heater

Keywords: Eco-business / Social Venture Manufacturing industry

INAX Corp., a major Japanese supplier of building materials and equipment, released an energy-saving gas water heater, the Full Auto Eco Joze No. 24 (INAX/YRUFH-K2400AW2-6), on April 22, 2005. This product is built for a family of four to five, and can supply hot water concurrently in the bath, kitchen, and lavatory.

The main feature of this product is its latent heat recovery system. While conventional water heaters emit exhaust gases at about 200 degrees Celsius, the Full Auto Eco Joze No. 24 recovers this exhaust heat by incorporating a heat exchanger. In this system, the exhaust gas temperature drops to around 60 degrees Celsius. As a result, its heat efficiency increases to 95 percent, comparing well with 82.5 percent for conventional water heaters. Savings of about 16 percent of fuel gas, and reduction of about 10 of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions are also achieved.

Introduction of a low nitrogen oxide (NOx) emission burner reduces NOx in the exhaust gas to less than 60 ppm, and the noise level of the operating unit is about 48 dB, a bit higher than a quiet park. The gas water heater has a self-diagnosis function that displays reasons for malfunctions such as abnormal combustion. It also has a carbon monoxide (CO) sensor that detects CO in waste gas as a way of monitoring incomplete combustion.
