INAX Expands Home Remodeling Business

Keywords: Eco-business / Social Venture Non-manufacturing industry

Japan's INAX Corporation, a supplier of building materials and equipment, opened the "INAX Reform Network" to applicants on April 1, 2003. The company expects expansion in the home remodeling market due to an increasing number of older homes, an increasing demand for barrier-free environments as the population ages, and a growing interest among homeowners in making their existing homes more comfortable.

Home remodeling is referred to as housing "reform" in Japanese. Many Japanese people prefer to completely demolish their old home and build a new, improved one on the same lot, shortening the average age of homes. High levels of resource demand and demolition waste result, making remodeling a more environmentally-aware choice.

The company aims to energize its home remodeling business by utilizing the individual sales capacities of builder/distributors and home remodeling firms combined with INAX's support programs, which offer remodeling plans and after-sales services. INAX will lead and organize the effort by offering support services to builders, plumbers and renovators that belong to the network. This will help increase public awareness about home remodeling, speed up the planning and estimate process and facilitate a wide range of after-sales services.

In establishing this network, INAX hopes to provide the home remodeling market with useful information and services in order to improve the livability of homes and to obtain trust and loyalty of consumers. The company aims to increase network membership to 3,600 nationwide in two years.
