Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd. of Japan announced on April 7, 2010, that it would conduct land-use surveys and wildlife surveys aimed at preserving biodiversity at its production facilities. Starting with its five facilities in Mie, Niigata, Toyama and Kanagawa Prefectures in Japan, the surveys will gradually be expanded to its four production facilities in China and Thailand.

In response to society's growing concerns about biodiversity preservation, the company decided to investigate the impacts of its corporate activities on the environment, especially on the ecosystem and biodiversity.

The land-use survey will investigate the noise, wastewater and the treatment of the facilities. It will also survey whether the facilities are aware of the potential situation concerning biodiversity around the vicinity, and how greenery is planted on the premises of the facility. The wildlife survey will investigate the habitats of wildlife living near facilities and will observe changes over time. Based on the results, the company plans to promote wildlife preservation in cooperation with local non-profit organizations (NPO).
