Mitsui Fudosan Residential Co., a major Japanese real estate developer, announced on July 22, 2011, that it will introduce EV Car Sharing and Rental Car Home-Delivery Services to its newly built condominiums, together with a Japanese rental car company Nissan Car Rental Solutions Co. and Japan's largest home delivery locker provider, Fulltime System Co.
Under the EV Car Sharing Service, condominium residents will be able to share the all-electric Nissan Leaf. To use the car, advanced reservations can be made by inputting the desired date and time into the exclusive website via PC or mobile phone. Furthermore, battery chargers will be installed in the exclusive parking lot within the condominium, and allowing electric vehicles to be recharged as desired.
The Rental Car Home-Delivery Service will allow non-face-to-face receipt and return of rented cars by using the home-delivery locker system installed in each condominium. Residents can reserve their favorite vehicle model by telephone, or via the Internet or mobile phone site, and the vehicle key is placed in the home-delivery locker when the vehicle was delivered. This service, utilizing the home-delivery locker system with IC authentication, offers good security and provides benefits to both car rental agents and users; the former can deliver vehicles during users' absence, while users can return vehicles at their convenience.
Mitsui Fudosan Residential plans to start these services at Park Homes Okurayama (in Kohoku-ku, Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture), whose sales will start in October 2011, before expanding the services to condominiums to be built in the Tokyo metropolitan area.
