Yamato Transport Co., Japan's largest parcel-delivery company, announced on February 25, 2010, that it would begin installing See-T Navi, a navigation system it developed with NEC Corp., on its delivery vehicles from March 2010 onwards. Yamato is aiming to provide a more eco-friendly transportation service and improve its operational efficiency, by converting the data on its drivers' performances from manual records into digital form to provide drivers more effective guidance individually.

Besides keeping a record of its daily business, the navigation system can provide drivers with digital maps and audio guidance, and also record the speed, driving time, and distance that vehicles are driven. While parking, the navigation displays information on running distance and fuel consumption to promote more energy-saving driving habits. Compiled data on driving vehicles is sent to the company's data center to be used for improvement of driving performances and comparative analysis of driving records.

Yamato Transport plans to have the navigation system installed on all 32,000 of its vehicles by the end of fiscal 2010.
