Kyoto University is offering series of lectures by members of the Business Leaders' Inter-Forum for Environment 21 (B-LIFE21) as a part of its fiscal 2005 public lectures programs, every Thursday from Oct. 6, 2005 to Jan. 19, 2006. Eleven lecturers, including corporate executives, NGO leaders and experts will take turns speaking on the theme of "Global Environment: Dialogue and Cooperation between Business and Community." The program is intended for undergraduates as a general subject in their second semester, but visiting students and citizens may also attend at no charge.

Aware that the global environment has become a serious issue for humanity, top executives of leading Japanese companies created B-LIFE21 in order to tackle environmental problems and carry out practical activities for the environment. To date, the non-profit group, represented by Yotaro Kobayashi, Chairman of the Board, Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd., has offered guest lectures at five universities as a part of its activities.

Executives who speak at the lectures tell their audiences about their company's environmental management practices. Lecturers at Kyoto University will include Keiichiro Okabe of Cosmo Oil Co. (Chairman & CEO), Shigeo Fukuchi of Asahi Breweries (Chairman of the Board & CEO), Eiichi Kuriwada of Sagawa Express Co. (Chairman), Hiroyuki Fujimura of Ebara Corp. (Honorary Chairman), Takuya Okada of Aeon Environmental Foundation (Chairman) and Hissho Kitamura of Sompo Japan Environment Foundation (Executive Director).
