Daiwa House Industry Co., a major Japanese home builder, and its group companies announced on March 26, 2012, that they would install 1,000 units of Power Yiile, a portable lithium ion battery storage system manufactured by Eliiy Power Co., in the group's offices and factories throughout Japan in order to achieve peak shift in their power use. The Power Yiile batteries they would introduce have a capacity of two megawatt-hours in total.

Responding to the upcoming power supply shortages and looking ahead to the creation of an energy-saving and low-carbon society, Daiwa House began sequentially installing the battery systems on April 10, 2012. It plans to install 600 units into its offices within the area served with power by Kansai Electric Power Co., where, in particular, there are serious concerns about power shortages to come. The company expects these batteries to reduce electricity consumption at peak hours by about five percent.

The installation of 1,000 units of the system makes it possible to cover electricity for about 10,000 employees using laptop computers and light-emitting diode lighting on their desks. The company will also use them as an independent source of power that makes it possible to operate the business without commercial power sources, and moreover, the company is using the storage battery units in its Business Continuity Plan as a backup power source during blackouts.
