Japanese University Publishes Environmental Education Database on Web

Keywords: Education University / Research institute

Since April 2004, the Miyagi University of Education has been posting a database on the internet that showcases their environmental education projects and techniques in English and Japanese.

The database contains case studies of environmental education techniques covering planning, implementation and results, as well as issues that need to be resolved in future. The Japanese database is being used to establish an inter-school network on environmental education, while the English database aims to present current Japanese environmental education techniques for the reference of educators in developing countries. One aim of the website is to establish cooperative relationships with foreign educational organizations by exchanging information in the hopes of promoting environmental conservation on the global scale.

Besides accessing entry categories such as grades, subjects, study themes, study materials, contents and features of environmental education techniques, users can register for up to five reference files on the web. The university operates the website and hopes that increasing the number of entry categories will improve the database format.
